Bedgrove Infant Training School

"Education is life itself"

Bedgrove Infant School is situated on the edge of the large town of Aylesbury on a private housing development and has recently achieved Foundation Status to allow the smooth transition from Infant School to Junior School. The children are from a society environment mix of backgrounds.

We have an excellent reputation for attaining very high standards of academic achievement for our pupils thanks to the commitment and support of our staff, parents and the pupils themselves. Ofsted's recent very good inspection of the school, in February 2005, confirmed this (a link to the full report can be found as item 2 on our Useful Links page).

However, in our view, our true success lies in our commitment to developing each child's individual potential, across the curriculum... and aim to develop not only intellectual but physical, social and creative skills too.

Not every one of us is a budding Einstein! We recognise the importance of individuality and diversity. Every child brings with them unique skills and talents which we aim to develop in addition to developing the more traditional 'academic' skills.

Since achieving Training School Status in September 2003, Bedgrove Infant School has had the opportunity to become fully involved in encouraging suitable candidates into the teaching profession, guiding, supporting and meeting the needs of trainees, work in partnership with HEI and other ITT providers, and the LEA and support other schools. Other distinctive features include:

  • Innovation and creativity
  • High emphasis on teamwork and staff development
  • Curriculum organisation
  • Outside learning environment
  • Training School, Partnership Promotion School, Professional Development School, IIP, Quality Mark Registered
  • Body for Registered Teachers, Initial Teacher Training Involvement

"Since there is no single set of abilities running throughout human nature, there is no single curriculum which all should undergo. Rather, the schools should teach everything that anyone is interested in learning."
