This is what by many is seen as the 'traditional' route into teaching, whereby your degree studies are combined with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - see separate page for further details. The University/College will lead to a degree, usually BEd, BA or BSc, and to QTS. Entry requirements vary depending on the University or College. Full-time courses Full-time courses last for three or four years and include practical teaching experience in schools. If you have already completed at least one years full-time higher education, you may be able to take a shortened, two-year course. Part-time courses There are a variety of part-time undergraduate courses available;across the country, the duration of the course is typically longer than for full-time courses. Application Applications for undergraduate courses are made through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). Please see their website for a full list of courses available nationally: http://www.ucas.com/ . Courses leading to QTS have course codes beginning with an "X" and can be found by searching for "QTS" in the Course Search section. |
